What is tokenisation (as a design pattern)?

Representing a transferable asset as an on-chain token so ownership and transfer are tracked verifiably.

The chain guarantees the token's own integrity, but not that the real-world asset behind it is authentic or that off-chain events (a court order, a physical sale) follow the token. That integrity gap is the pattern's main limitation.
