What is an Ethical Value Requirement (EVR)?
A requirement derived from one specific pair of core value and value quality; a system counts as ethical only if it meets its EVRs.
Each core value / value quality combination is considered separately and translated into one or more EVRs.
Example: the value quality informed consent (part of the core value privacy) yields five EVRs:
- understandable and honest information about the data processing,
- complete information,
- easily accessible information,
- information about the processing that actually takes place,
- an easy-to-use option to forbid any processing beyond what is strictly necessary.
A voice assistant is only considered ethical if it meets these EVRs.
