What is a seed phrase (mnemonic)?

A human-readable list of words — often 12 — that is the master secret from which a wallet can regenerate many private keys and accounts.

Leak one account's private key and an attacker controls that account; leak your seed phrase and they control every account derived from it. It must be guarded above all else.
