What is a party (in NPL)?

An entity designated at a protocol's initiation as having an interest in it, and therefore able to access and interact with it.

A party combines a user's functional rights and data (access) scope, both represented as claims, into one role on that protocol. Only parties whose claims satisfy the protocol's requirements can act on it.
