What is a dApp (decentralized application)?

An application whose core logic runs on a blockchain via smart contracts — usually several working together — rather than on a company's centralized servers.

Because the logic executes on independent nodes, no single operator can censor it, change its rules, or take it down. Users get the blockchain's transparency and immutability guarantees.
