What does LEM (Local Energy Market) mean?

A geographically bounded market — a neighbourhood or city district — where local producers and consumers trade energy directly with each other instead of all buying from one central distributor.

Within it, peer-to-peer trading lets any participant be buyer or seller, cutting out the centralized intermediary and rewarding local clean generation, at the cost of harder supply-demand balancing.
