Describe the rough sequence of the Value-based Engineering method.

Value recognition: value qualities from stakeholders are clustered around core values, analysed conceptually (including human rights, laws and international agreements) and turned into EVRs. Ethically aligned design: the EVRs enter the system through organisational measures, iterative design or risk-based design.

  1. Value recognition (Werterkenntnis)
    • Stakeholders name value qualities, which are clustered around core values.
    • The prioritised clusters get a conceptual value analysis that takes human rights, laws and international agreements into account.
    • EVRs are derived for each value quality.
  2. Ethically aligned design: each EVR enters the system by one of three routes.
    • Organisational measures: the EVR becomes an organisational or strategic measure.
    • Iterative design: it is integrated into iterative development.
    • Risk-based design: value qualities enter the system through risk-based design.
