What is selective disclosure (selektive Offenlegung)?

Selective disclosure is the targeted, controlled release of specific information from a larger set of signed data, so that only the data needed for a purpose is shared while integrity and authenticity remain verifiable.

A signed credential with many claims becomes a presentation that reveals only over 18, which the verifier can still check

* From a fully signed credential to a presentation that reveals only one derived claim. *

Technically achieved with SD-JWT (hashed claims plus disclosures) or multi-message signatures such as BBS.
