What is a verifiable data registry (VDR)?
A verifiable data registry is a service in the SSI context that serves as a trustworthy, transparent data source for the decentralised verification of the authenticity and validity of verifiable credentials; it stores and manages schemas, identifiers, revocation lists and the public keys of issuers and verifiers.
It is the shared trust anchor that replaces the online issuer: the verifier consults the registry, not the issuer, when checking a credential.
