What is a digital identity (digitale Identität)?
A digital identity is the digital representation of properties of a subject with which the subject can act in a digital process; it is bound via a credential to an authentication means so that the subject can authenticate with it.
Examples: an online-shop account linked to a digital identity consisting of an e-mail identifier, personal data and a password; an employee whose identity is managed in HR and gives rise to digital identities in Active Directory and SAP. Synonyms: electronic identity, digital identity.
