What is a decentralised identity (dezentrale Identität)?
A decentralised identity is an identity concept in which digital identities are stored decentrally, usually in a wallet, which decouples issuance from use; examples are verifiable credentials with holder binding, X.509 certificates and the German nPA.
Synonym: user-centric identity. The issuer is not involved when the identity is used.
