What is a cryptographic token?
A cryptographic token is a physical or virtual security device (hardware or software) that stores cryptographic keys and performs operations such as authentication, digital signing or encryption without the keys being readable from outside.
Examples: software such as the Windows certificate manager; hardware such as smart cards, USB tokens and hardware security modules.
