What are metadata in IAM?
Metadata are structured supplementary information needed to carry out IAM processes; they describe data, data structures, the protocols used or audit information such as timestamps.
In federations, entity metadata (endpoints, keys, supported protocols) are what an intermediary's metadata management service maintains.
