After logging in, how do you retrieve the device inventory from the Cisco DNA Center API?

Send a GET to /api/v1/network-device with the header X-Auth-Token set to the token from the login call. The response is the list of managed devices in JSON.

  1. Copy the token from the login response and open a new request.
  2. URL: https://sandboxdnac.cisco.com/api/v1/network-device
  3. Method: GET.
  4. Headers:
    • Content-Type: application/json
    • X-Auth-Token: <the token>
  5. Send. The controller checks the token and returns the device inventory as JSON: hostname, IP, platform, software version and more for every device it manages.

This is where APIs pay off. One call returns the data for the whole network within moments, where the CLI would need a login and a show command on every single device.
